Job Details: Job Location: Family Dental - St. Joseph, MO, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Job Shift: Day, Described Duties:1. Work cooperatively with Northwest Health Services (NHS) providers, supervisors, peers, and subordinates to carry out the goals and objectives of NHS according to governing body requirements and established internal policies and procedures.2. Will treat others respectfully whether it is a patient, fellow employee, member of management, customer, vendor or visitor to our premises.3. Provide dental prophylactic services to prevent and control dental disease and decay, such as cleaning patients teeth, coronal polish, calculus removal, and application of sealant to exposed teeth surfaces and surface tissues, and impressions.4. Maintain records, data and information on dental services rendered.5. Expose and develop diagnostic radiographs.6. Evaluate individual needs in brushing and flossing techniques.7. Educate patients on proper dental hygiene and nutritional counseling.8. Administer anesthesia for pain control and prepare clinical and laboratory diagnostic tests for interpretation by dentists. Administer nitrous oxide, fluoride treatments, as needed.9. Report any emergency dental needs to the staff dentist.10. Coordinate, plan and present educational dental hygiene community programs at locations such as elementary schools.11. Provide periodontal therapies including root planning/scaling, micro-ultrasonic and soft tissue curettage.12. On occasion may work with dentists in the capacity of dental assistant.13. Must comply with the provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996.14. Perform other duties as requested.Essential Job Functions:1. Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License, and proof of insurance for personal vehicle used for business.2. Must be able to talk, see, hear, react, sit, stand, kneel and lift, pull and push up to 50 pounds.3. Read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and government regulations.4. Effectively present information and respond to questions from patients and other individuals encountered in the course of employment.5. Demonstrate tact, patience and good communications skills in dealing with patients and office staff.6. Maintain professional appearance and demeanor at all times.7. Must insure confidentiality of all patient records and accounts.Qualifications: Qualifications:1. Education: an accredited Dental Hygienist program.2. Possess valid license to practice dental hygiene in the State of Missouri, CPR certified.3. Must demonstrate the ability to turn on the computer and the monitor.4. Must demonstrate the ability to navigate from the computer desktop to Microsoft (MS) Office.5. Must demonstrate the ability to open, minimize, and maximize different windows in the Microsoft Office applications (see #4 above).6. Must be able to talk, see, hear, react, sit, stand, kneel and lift, pull and push up to 50 pounds.7.
