Methodist is looking to hire an Exercise Physiologist to join our rehabilitation team!  Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day. 

 

Position Summary:

Perform direct patient care for patients in the Rehab and Fitness Center. Programs include, but are not limited to, Cardiac Rehab Phase I, II, and III, Pulmonary Rehab, Cancer Rehab and Employee Fitness Program. Duties may include but are not limited to patient assessment, treatment planning, exercise session supervision, exercise prescription, and proper documentation.

Casual position, variable shifts

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

    • BS or BA degree in Exercise Physiology 

  • Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

    • NA

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients. 

    • Proven proficiency in the operation of the following: Health testing devices, Exercise equipment, Office equipment (copy machine, fax, telephone)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

    • Master’s degree

    • Previous experience (1+ year) in a similar setting ACSM Exercise Specialist preferred.

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Demonstrates an understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathology of heart disease, exercise and heart disease, cardiac risk factor modification, blood pressure and heart rate monitoring. 

    • Demonstrates knowledge of effects of exercise and ability to modify program as needed for everyone.

    • Has basic knowledge of nutrition, risk factors and behavior modification strategies.
