Position Summary


The role focuses on maintaining a safe, trauma-informed environment for clients, staff, and guests during day, evening and overnight hours. This role actively monitors issues occurring in and around the winter shelter facility, including the building premises. When safety concerns arise for any clients, staff, or guests, engage in de-escalation practices and return to a safe/secure status, in coordination with the Safety & Monitor Training Specialist, fellow staff, and possibly authorities when necessary. 


Key Responsibilities

 

  1. Provide services to all clients with dignity, respect, and without judgment. Maintain an environment free from discrimination based on race, religion, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic. 
  1. Utilize a trauma-informed approach when engaging with clients. 
  1. Assist with tracking outcomes in accordance with good practice standards and any funder requirements. 
  1. Monitor the meals during meal service times. 
  1. Perform minor administrative tasks, including answering phones/doors, and maintaining the front desk emergency log. 
  1. Attend and complete all required trainings and required meetings. 
  1. Provide clear, unbiased written documentation of client behaviors, incidents, and staff actions during each shift. 
  1. Maintain cleanliness and order of the office and facility areas. 
  1. Ensure client compliance with program policies and procedures. 
  1. Assist with receiving and storing in-kind donations. 
  1. Distribute linens, hygiene items, stock supplies, and connect clients with needed resources. 
  1. Ensure that all exits and avenues of egress remain accessible at all times. 
  1. Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality. 
  1. Monitor surveillance cameras as needed. 
  1. Perform additional services as mutually agreed upon to support operational needs. 


Qualifications

  • Knowledge of HIPAA standards and professional boundaries. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Preferred: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic documentation systems. 
  • Preferred: Ability to effectively partner with and empower clients. 


 

Supervisory Responsibility: None


Physical and Environmental Requirements: The PRN must be able to lift and carry at least 10-20 pounds and meet the physical and environmental demands of a shelter facility. 


Work Environment: Duties will be performed in the winter shelter environment, requiring flexibility and awareness of safety needs. 

 

Travel: This position will be working primarily at Community Campus but could potentially work at other winter shelter locations as needed.
