Position Summary

Global Tax Services is responsible for supporting clients through complex international tax relief processes related to ADR and ordinary securities. The Relief at Source and Reclaim Operations teams work together to help clients obtain the appropriate tax treatment under applicable market rules and Double Taxation Treaties while maintaining strong controls, accurate documentation, and timely execution.

The team member in this role will support both preventative tax relief activity before income payments are made and post-payment reclaim activity when excess withholding tax must be recovered. This position requires strong attention to detail, disciplined follow-up, market awareness, and the ability to partner with clients, internal business lines, custodians, and tax authorities to ensure accurate and timely tax servicing.

Relief at Source

  • Review client eligibility and documentation to support reduced withholding tax treatment at the time income is paid.
  • Prepare, validate, and track market-specific tax forms, certifications, and supporting documentation required for relief at source processing.
  • Monitor upcoming income events, market deadlines, and custodian requirements to ensure documentation is submitted timely and accurately.
  • Support onboarding documentation to ensure clients are properly established for future tax relief opportunities.
  • Respond to ad-hoc market-driven requests, urgent documentation escalations, and last-minute eligibility validations to help protect clients from negative tax impact.
  • Partner with internal teams, custodians, and external clients to resolve documentation gaps, missing information, or tax service coding issues.

Reclaim Operations

  • Review and validate reclaim eligibility after income payments have been made to recover excess withholding tax on behalf of clients.
  • Prepare, submit, and monitor reclaim packages in accordance with market rules, custodian requirements, and statute of limitation deadlines.
  • Coordinate with clients and business partners to obtain certificates of residency, tax forms, and other required supporting documentation.
  • Track reclaim inventory through filing, payment, rejection, resubmission, or closure while maintaining accurate status updates and audit trail documentation.
  • Research and resolve reclaim rejections by identifying root causes, coordinating corrective action, and escalating time-sensitive or high-value items as needed.
  • Partner with custodians, tax authorities, and internal stakeholders to support payment validation, exception resolution, and client communication.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to review complex tax documentation and identify missing or inconsistent information.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, time-sensitive operational environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to follow up professionally with clients, business partners, and custodians.
  • Understanding of global custody, withholding tax, ADR and ordinary securities, Double Taxation Treaties, or securities operations preferred.
