Journeyman Electrician: Technical Power Services

Position Overview:
Serve Electric is seeking an experienced, motivated Journeyman Electrician to join our growing Technical Power Services (TPS) division. The ideal candidate is a skilled electrician who is willing to travel, adaptable to different work environments, and interested in expanding their experience in specialized electrical testing, maintenance, and power system services.

This position will primarily support our Technical Power Services division, with opportunities to assist our Service and Automation divisions based on project demands and workload.

Key Responsibilities:
Technical Power Services (Primary Focus)
 Assist with Arc Flash Assessments, including field data collection, equipment identification, and electrical system documentation.
 Support infrared thermography inspections and electrical preventive maintenance.
 Assist with electrical load studies, power monitoring, and data collection.
 Support power quality assessments and power factor correction projects.
 Perform electrical troubleshooting, inspections, testing, and maintenance on commercial and industrial electrical systems.
 Assist with electrical equipment labeling, verification, and one-line diagram updates.
 Follow applicable OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company electrical safety procedures.

Service & Automation Support (As Needed)
 Assist the Service division with electrical installations, repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
 Support the Automation division with electrical installations, control panels, wiring, and industrial equipment.
 Provide additional field support to other divisions during slower periods within TPS.
 Work collaboratively with project managers, technicians, and field personnel to complete projects safely and efficiently.

Qualifications & Requirements:
 Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent documented journeyman-level experience.
 Experience working in commercial and/or industrial electrical environments.
 Strong understanding of electrical systems, troubleshooting, and safe work practices.
 Willingness and ability to travel, including overnight stays, based on project needs.
 Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and one-line diagrams.
 Familiarity with electrical testing equipment and procedures.
 Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
 Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
 Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
 Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.

Preferred Qualifications
 Experience with Arc Flash Assessments, infrared thermography, or electrical testing.
 Familiarity with NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B standards.
 Experience with industrial power distribution equipment, switchgear, MCCs, and transformers.
 Experience with PLCs, industrial controls, or automation systems.
 Interest in learning specialized electrical testing and power system assessment techniques.

Prior TPS-specific experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who has a strong electrical background and a willingness to learn.
