Job DetailsLevel: EntryJob Location: Destiny Springs Hospital Main - Surprise, AZ 85378Position Type: SeasonalEducation Level: High SchoolEssential Functions: Under the leadership/direction of a Registered Nurse, will assist in the collection of urine drug screens (UDS), body & belonging search, glucose screening, breathalyzer screening, monitor and chart blood pressure. Provide basic patient care and monitors patient activity, including physical and mental status, and reports to nursing staff.  Inspects, documents, and secures patient’s personal belongings.  Ensures that prohibited items, including contraband, are removed and secured.  Medications, including over the counter, are collected and given to a Registered Nurse.   Utilizes a handheld metal detector to conduct security scanning to ensure that objects, including weapons and paraphernalia, don’t pose a threat to the safety and well-being of others. Assist with patient admissions, including but not limited to, assisting patient or family with completing intake forms, obtaining consent, registration forms, transfer of patients to their assigned inpatient unit, and processing administrative documentation for the patient’s medical record. Recognizes patients that are exhibiting aggressive behavior, acting as a danger to themselves or others, or are in crisis constituting a medical emergency.  Provides intervention including redirecting of patients and/or participating in seclusion and restraint as needed. Monitors and complete Q15’s for all patients. Provides care that promotes dignity, independence, strength, privacy and choice.  Exhibits respect for diversity and boundaries.  Customer/client focused and confirms with and abides by all regulations, policies, patient rights, work procedures, code procedures, and instruction. Trained to assist team members in facilitation of “Mindability-Roadmap to Peace of Mind” curriculum. Perform other functions as assigned by RN, Intake Supervisor, Director, or administration. WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job is operated in a behavioral health/psychiatric hospital. Position is direct care/hands-on, physically demanding, and requires agility to stand/be on feet a minimum of 75% of work shift.  Ability to exercise self-control in potentially volatile situations such as being verbally or physically confronted in a threatening or aggressive manner. Must be able to work and concentrate amidst distractions such as noise, conversation, and foot traffic and be able to move from one task to another. Must be flexible and not easily frustrated in dealing with differences of opinions. Able to address and prioritize multiple tasks within established time frames. Position is not sedentary and requires ability to walk at a fast pace, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, lift (up to 35 lbs.), grasp, and be able to perceive the attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, and/or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of the fingertips. An ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken work during activities in which they must convey detail or important spoken instructions to others accurately, sometimes quickly and loudly. Ability to express and exchange ideas via written assignments effectively and accurately. Hearing to perceive the nature of sound with no less than 40 db loss @ Hz, 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz with or without correction; ability to perceive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound. Performs repetitive motions with wrists, hands and fingers.
