Job Description

The College of Arts, Science, and Education occasionally has openings for part-time Field Supervisors appointed on a per semester basis. 

Applying for a part-time teaching appointment in Education adds applicants to a pool which is available to the department for selection as needed for fall 2026, spring 2027 and/or summer 2027. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct required formal and informal observations of clinical teachers in their assigned field placements.
  • Maintain regular, professional communication with both clinical teachers and cooperating teachers throughout the term.
  • Monitor clinical teacher progress, instructional growth, and mastery of professional competencies.
  • Provide targeted, timely verbal and written feedback following observations to support professional growth.
  • Complete and submit all required supervisory documentation, observation records, and final evaluation ratings according to established program deadlines.
  • Facilitate support plans and address placement concerns in collaboration with the program coordinator and field placement office.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Education or a related field strongly preferred

Other Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Valid Texas Standard Educator Certificate in the relevant certificate category/class and grade band.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful, certified classroom teaching experience in a PK-12 setting.
  • Demonstrated accomplishment as an educator as shown by student learning.
  • Demonstrated current knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and state pedagogical standards.
  • Completion of, or willingness to complete, TEA-approved Field Supervisor Training and state-calibrated observation training prior to student assignment.
  • Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Field Supervisors cannot supervise a candidate at a school where the supervisor is currently employed, nor serve as the candidate's official mentor/cooperating teacher

Compensation is paid at a per-student rate of $428.57 per assigned clinical teacher for the term.

This position generally does not supervise employees.
