About Oregon Child Development Coalition (OCDC):

Position Summary:

Provides educational learning kits, playgroups. support services and occasional training to parents/caregivers in a five-county region. Provides virtual and in-person education and activities that support the adult caregiver and child’s development. Implements assigned grant activities, conducts outreach to families, produces reports and identified data.

Essential Functions:

• Develops and implements curriculum and activities that support children’s healthy development and learning as well as the adult’s capacity to thrive as a stable, positive parent/caregiver and first teacher.

• Develops and distributes developmentally appropriate curriculum kits to 350-450 children across a five-county region, including kindergarten readiness backpacks to transitioning kindergarteners each summer.

• Develop and produce virtual curriculum and videos to effectively engage adult caregivers in appropriate and meaningful adult-child interactions.

• Provides parenting support, skill development, and resources to caregivers on supporting their children’s enhanced growth and learning.

• Provides in-person parent/caregiving coaching via a variety of regular playgroups offered to families across the five counties.

• Provides parent/caregiver guidance and support with strategies for managing child behavior positively.

• Provides parenting classes which contribute to a healthy, safe, nurturing, and stable home life.

• Conducts observations for assessments and evaluation of programs and shares with parents/caregivers, as well as conducting evaluations with caregivers for Portland State University and the Department of Early Learning research projects.

• Provides child health and developmental screening and follow-up in cooperation with parents/caregivers.

• Under the direction of the Play & Learn Coordinator, conducts outreach to the five counties to ensure engagement with families and represents Play & Learn and the Equity grant at a variety of community events and activities.

• Refers families to community resources (e.g. health, mental health, etc.).

• Participates in all required professional development and training sessions.

• May be required to drive the program vehicle both locally and throughout the five counties.

• Maintains data and completes recordkeeping to ensure timely reporting.

• Maintains accurate records.

• Maintains confidentiality.

• Performs duties and tasks in a safe manner.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Regional Play & Learn Family Educator –Classroom Scale-PG-4:

• High School Diploma, GED, or Diploma de Educacion Secundaria

AND

• 1 year or work experience with preschool, infant/toddler or elementary age children.

Regional Play & Learn Family Educator –Classroom Scale-PG-5:

• High School Diploma, GED, or Diploma de Educacion Secundaria.

AND

• Preschool or Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate.

OR

• One year Oregon community college certificate1 in field WITH training or coursework in early childhood development with a focus on preschool or infant/toddler development.

Regional Play & Learn Family Educator –Classroom Scale PG-8:

• Associate’s degree in early childhood education or child development or any field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education or child development.

AND

• 6 months of actual work experience teaching preschool or infant/toddler age children.

OR

• Out-of-field associate’s degree and 3 years of work experience working with preschool or infant/toddler age children.

Pay Range:

The pay range for this position is $[min] – $[max] [hourly/annually]. Placement within the range is determined by factors such as relevant experience, skills, certifications, and internal equity.
