General Purpose

Under general supervision, assist employees and the Human Resources (HR) team in delivering a full spectrum of HR services, including recruitment, payroll, leave management, onboarding, employee transactions, and possibly safety or other related areas. Serve as a resource for employees and answer general HR questions. Process personnel information and handle highly confidential material. Respond promptly and professionally to the needs of internal and/or external customer requests or questions. Front-facing role supporting employees, customers, and contractors.  May provide backup support to other administrative positions.

Job Duties and ResponsibilitiES

  • Assist department and/or office staff, performing any combination of clerical duties including answering phones, checking in/out contractors, filing, sorting, receiving, classifying, reconciling and summarizing documents and information
  • Perform recruiting activities for the location such as resume screening, scheduling interviews, reference checks, background check/testing completion, etc.
  • Act as backup Administer for payroll processing (e.g., tracking, auditing, transmitting, and correcting payroll transactions)
  • Assist with or facilitate the new hire onboarding process
  • Serve as a liaison to employees with employee benefits questions; assist with new hire benefit enrollment and open enrollment
  • Facilitate leave management to ensure smooth transactions between employees, leave management system, payroll, and benefits
  • Respond to HR inquiries either directly to the requested party or provide background information for HR management team members regarding the inquiry
  • Maintain various records, spreadsheets, logs, etc. Compile and generate regular and special reports using established formats and procedures, i.e. Plant Production downtime and tracking reports in Excel and Power BI.
  • Maintain required employment law postings in assigned location
  • Support employee engagement process and actively participate in/plan/recommend employee recognition or appreciation events
  • Coordinate training activities; ensure that new hire and employee training is completed in a timely manner and attend monthly DairyU coordinator meetings
  • Schedule and organize onsite, off-site, or virtual meetings; prepare materials for meetings

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Undergraduate degree and/or human resource course work preferred
  • 1 to 3 years of human resource experience preferred
  • Certification and/or License – may be required during course of employment
