Position: Per Diem Athletic Trainer

 

** MUST be a NJ licensed athletic trainer or upcoming new grad to apply **

 

Pay range: $45.00/hour 

 

Location: South New Jersey

 

Kessler Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Per Diem Athletic Trainer to support a variety of athletic partners throughout South Jersey. This role offers exposure to high school, collegiate, and hockey athletics while working within one of the region's premier sports medicine networks. 

 

 

Partner Organizations:

 

St. Rose High School (Belmar/Wall Township, NJ)A competitive high school athletic program with more than 20 sports and over 200 student-athletes.

 

Georgian Court University (Lakewood, NJ)An NCAA Division II institution with a growing athletic program focused on student-athlete wellness and performance.

 

NJ Titans / Garden State Gamblers (Middletown & Brick, NJ)Youth and junior hockey organizations providing year-round opportunities for athlete care, injury prevention, and performance support.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide coverage for athletic practices, competitions, tournaments, and events.
  • Assess and manage athletic injuries and illnesses.
  • Administer first aid and emergency care when needed.
  • Support concussion baseline testing and return-to-play programs.
  • Conduct athlete screenings and injury prevention initiatives.
  • Collaborate with coaches, athletic directors, physicians, and rehabilitation professionals.
  • Maintain documentation and injury tracking records.
  • Assist with sports medicine education and community outreach efforts.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) certification required
  • Current Athletic Trainer state license (or eligibility for licensure) in New Jersey
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with athletes, coaches, physicians, therapists, and athletic department personnel
 

 

Physical Requirements:• Ability to lift patients using biomedical techniques frequently throughout the course of a work day/shift; must be capable of easily lifting fifty (50) pounds of weight alone.• Ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach constantly during a work day/shift.• Visual acuity (near and distant) sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people, and understand written direction.• Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand and give directions.• Ability to push wheeled equipment throughout the facility and in the community.• Fine motor skills adequate for scheduling and preparing athletes, equipment, and supplies for treatment.• Ability to participate in sustained activities for many hours in duration in accordance with state labor laws.
