Rate: £25.02 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: 7 Month Contract
Hours: 21 Hours Per Week (Part-Time)

Summary


Wrexham County Borough Council's Education & Early Intervention Service is looking for a seasoned Building Maintenance Officer. This position is pivotal in maintaining, ensuring compliance, and enhancing the Council's educational properties. Collaborating with the Access & School Places Team and the Building Maintenance Team, the role is essential in keeping educational facilities safe, compliant, and operational. The officer will offer expert surveying and maintenance advice, oversee maintenance projects, and support both planned and emergency works across the county's educational properties.

Responsibilities


  • Deliver expert building surveying and maintenance services for educational properties.
  • Facilitate planned, cyclical, reactive, and statutory maintenance programs.
  • Assist in the design, specification, procurement, and execution of refurbishment and improvement projects.
  • Analyze condition surveys and provide technical recommendations and budget forecasts.
  • Prepare feasibility studies, specifications, tender documents, and contract details.
  • Oversee contractor work and authorize payments as necessary.
  • Offer technical support and guidance to schools, managers, and council officers.
  • Ensure adherence to building maintenance laws, health & safety standards, and council protocols.
  • Maintain strong relationships with contractors, consultants, schools, and external partners.
  • Aid in planning and coordinating maintenance and installation programs across the educational estate.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Experience in Building Surveying, Building Maintenance, Property Services, or a related field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of building maintenance, refurbishment, and compliance standards.
  • Proven track record in managing planned and reactive maintenance projects.
  • Experience in preparing specifications, work schedules, and tender documents.
  • Familiarity with relevant building legislation, regulations, and health & safety standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adhere to deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Wrexham County Borough.

Desirable


  • Experience in Local Government or the Public Sector.
  • Understanding of education estate management.
  • Experience in managing contractors and capital maintenance programs.
  • Relevant qualifications in Building Surveying, Construction, Property, or Building Maintenance.
