Job Description

 

Position:                   Host/Cashier            

Department:             Various

Job Summary:         Performs host and cashier duties in support of a restaurant or retail store.

 

Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

  1. Assures accuracy of sales data and cash handling, including balancing of assigned bank.
  2. Processes credit card and cash transactions.
  3. Redeems scripts, vouchers, coupons and receipts for service and/or products.
  4. Identifies and resolves discrepancies in a timely manner.
  5. Generates sales volume in a courteous and timely manner.
  6. Controls point of sale inventory.
  7. Performs accurate and thorough departmental records and reports as assigned.
  8. Greets guests and determines the number in their party.
  9. Seats guests by finding a clean, available table, pulling out chairs, and placing a clean, current menu in front of them.
  10. Guides guests through the dining room or retail store and provides any needed assistance.
  11. Assists Food Servers, if necessary.
  12. Ensures place settings are appropriate and each guest has a napkin, clean silverware, and any other item that is part of the standard place setting.
  13. Checks menus to ensure they are current, clean, and plentiful.
  14.  Maintains cleanliness of work areas throughout the shift practicing clean-as-you-go procedures.
  15. Follows all safety and security policies and procedures, including reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions immediately to a supervisor.
  16. Ensures uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional.
  17. Fosters a team environment by working collaboratively with co-workers.
  18. Displays initiative and ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision.
  19. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Working knowledge of cash register, calculator, Micros point-of-sale system, and currency transactions.
  2. Organizational and time management skills.
  3. Good communication skills.
  4. Skill in working courteously with guests as well as developing and maintaining good working relationships.
  5. Ability to accurately handle and count money as well as make change.
  6. Ability to communicate and follow directions effectively.
  7. Ability to perform basic mathematical computations pertaining to the position.
  8. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  9. Ability to read and write legibly.
  10. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  11. Ability to work in a fast paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  12. Ability to lift forty (40) pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  13. Ability to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time.
  14. Ability to adapt well to an environment that involves large numbers of guests as well as loud and continuous high noise levels.
  15. Ability to work in a smoking environment.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Must either possess or obtain valid Food Handler’s and Alcohol Awareness cards within three (3) months of employment.
  2. Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, special events, and overtime, as needed.
  3. Must be able to work in a smoking environment.
  4. Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
  5. Must be able to obtain, maintain, and retain a valid gaming license.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Six (6) months money handling experience in a guest service position.
  2. ServSafe certification
  3. Bilingual (English/Spanish
