Educational Psychologist

6 Month Contract With A local Authority

To provide high-quality psychological assessments and evidence-based advice as part of the Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA) process. The role supports children and young people with Special Educational Needs by assessing their strengths and needs, recommending appropriate provision, and contributing to positive educational outcomes in line with statutory requirements and Council quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake psychological assessments of children and young people as part of statutory SEN processes.
  
• Produce high-quality psychological advice to support Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNAs).
  
• Assess and identify children's strengths, needs, outcomes, and appropriate provision recommendations.
  
• Conduct face-to-face assessments within schools, educational settings, and family homes across the borough.
  
• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports in line with statutory requirements and service procedures.
  
• Work collaboratively with the SEND Team, families, schools, and other professionals to support children and young people.
  
• Ensure all assessments and reports meet statutory deadlines and Redbridge quality standards.
  
• Promote inclusive, child-centred practice and contribute to improved outcomes for children and young people.
  

Requirements

• Honours Degree in Psychology.
  
• Postgraduate qualification (Master's or Doctorate) in Educational Psychology recognised by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Association of Educational Psychologists (AEP).
  
• Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), or eligible for registration if newly qualified.
  
• Significant experience working with children, young people, families, and educational settings.
  
• Experience contributing to Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNAs).
  
• Strong knowledge of SEN legislation and educational psychology practice.
  
• Experience using a range of psychological assessment methods and intervention approaches.
  
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  
• Strong analytical, organisational, and time management skills.
  
• Ability to manage competing priorities and build effective working relationships.

• Location: Redbridge (schools, family homes, and office locations across the borough)
  
• Hours per Week: 36 Hours
  
• Pay: Bi-weekly payments
