The Big Picture
Osterhout Bible Church (https://sites.google.com/view/osterhout-bible-church-pa/our-story) is seeking a faithful, biblically grounded Pastor to lead this rural congregation in Wyoming County, Pennsylvania, through a season of transition and renewal. The church is looking for a shepherd who will provide sound, expository preaching that prioritizes the whole counsel of God, lead local outreach to the unchurched in the Tunkhannock community, and foster discipleship and fellowship across all generations.
After 25 years of faithful leadership, Osterhout's current pastor (68) has expressed his intent to retire but has committed to remain in ministry for as long as the search takes. The congregation is a firmly established, independent and autonomous body of fewer than 50 members, seeking a patient leader with a heart for rural ministry and a vision for long-term church revitalization.
Job Profile
  • Lead local outreach to reach the lost and unchurched in the Tunkhannock community
  • Provide sound, biblical preaching that prioritizes the “whole counsel of God” over modern trends
  • Foster fellowship and spiritual growth across all generations, from seniors to families with children
  • Meet the biblical qualifications of a Pastor as outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
  • Bring a heart for rural ministry and the patience to navigate a long-term pastoral transition
  • Full time, part time, and bi-vocational candidates will all be considered, at the discretion of OBC's pulpit committee
Compensation & Benefits
  • Negotiable salary range of $40,000–$50,000, with potential for a performance-based raise after twelve months
  • Negotiable health insurance premium reimbursement and retirement contributions
  • 14 days of standard PTO annually, plus 5 additional days for personal enrichment (e.g., Bible conferences or seminars)
  • Hiring is contingent upon approved criminal history and child protective clearances
