What You'll Do

Safety

Promote safety culture within the plant as a strong representative of the technical team
Actively engaged in safety procedures, protocols, initiatives, and training requirements

Quality Support

Ensure item master accuracy specific to sales order requirements, QC checks and customer expectations
Conduct sample quality review and checks
Actively involved in Kaizen, A3’s, complaint reviews and data discovery
Support various quality and product safety audits
Daily walkthrough of the plant with a focus on reviewing quality, improvement ideas and specific KPI criteria

Operational Support

Support and attend appropriate plant meetings
Support and drive to improve all specific operational KPI’s
Support sample runs at the production line with assistance from appropriate technical personnel
Support new raw material investigation and substitution efforts
Develop specific troubleshooting strategies to positively impact production floor process and product

Technical and Customer Support

Develop a link between resin and additive properties and how they perform on the production line and the final film
Product Life Cycle Support: lab testing, data analysis, begin to develop the tools for product recommendation with support, quote, ERP item set up, sample support
Understand current resin usage, resin back-up status, identify potential gaps and make recommendations for improvement
Develop understanding of film grades manufactured at other plants – identify differences and technical reason for differences
Foster relationships with customers
Participate in weekly and monthly technical team calls

Value Engineering Initiatives

Under direction of manager, begin to identify and engage in specific cost avoidance projects and initiatives
Support corporate and plant-specific scrap initiatives by identifying and reporting actionable goals

Other Responsibilities

Proactively seek educational opportunities to expand knowledge of manufacturing processes, resins, films, & customers
Other duties as assigned by direct manager or corporate leadership
Be able to manage & prioritize multiple projects/tasks in order minimize response time
Demonstrate a continuous professional attitude with all levels of internal and external personnel

What You’ll Bring

1 – 2 years as Technical Development Engineer or Equivalent Development Engineer Experience
BS in Engineering: Chemical, Packaging, Plastics or Industrial with an emphasis on Plastics/Polymers. BS in Chemistry or Polymer Science with appropriate emphasis may also qualify. Equivalent work experience with a specialization in Engineering, Plastics, Polymer or applicable Research and Development will also be considered.
Demonstrate skills in organization, attention to details, setting priorities and sound decision making.
Strong work and personal ethics
Effectively communicate and work alongside company personnel on all levels ranging from production workers to upper management
Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Work.
