Overview

The Corporate Engagement Manager (CEM) supports the implementation of corporate engagement initiatives for The Salvation Army New Jersey Division. This role focuses on corporate stewardship, sponsorship coordination, campaign management, corporate volunteer engagement, and cause-marketing support under the direction of the Director of Corporate and Foundation Giving. 

Responsibilities

The duties listed below are the primary duties of this position but are not all the duties that may be required. Specifically, the primary duties are: 

  • Develop and manage a process which identifies the needs of The Army and matches those needs to corporate foundation funding opportunities. 
  • Support stewardship of a portfolio of corporate partners, ensuring timely acknowledgments, meaningful engagement, and ongoing relationship management through regular follow-up communications. 
  • Collaborate with the Director of Corporate and Foundation Giving to develop renewal and upgrade strategies, informed by engagement history and corporate priorities. 
  • Coordinate corporate participation in divisional fundraising initiatives, including Red Kettle Campaign (including Walmart coordination), Angel Tree Program, Seasonal drives and Kettle Kick-Off events. 
  • Research and identify corporate volunteer opportunities and giving days, and coordinate employee engagement activities in collaboration with Salvation Army facilities, staff and programs. 
  • Maintain an up-to-date list of all existing corporate contacts and partnerships and track all actions with these contacts in the donor database (Salesforce). 
  • Coordinate with the Volunteer department to ensure corporate volunteer groups are vetted and properly tracked within volunteer systems.  
  • Research and identify gifts-in-kind programs from corporations, as well as coordinate closely with corps, service extensions and program staff to ensure appropriateness of all donations. 
  • Support Corps with the writing, editing, preparation, and submission of funding proposals, impact reports, and sponsorship packages for local corporate partners and foundations.  
  • Work with Divisional Marketing team to highlight company’s philanthropic partnerships with The Salvation Army and create necessary collateral.  

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in propsal writing required. 
  • Must understand and support the mission of The Salvation Army. 
  • Must be extremely organized and able to plan and implement strategies within a complex environment; manage goals and coordinate contacts within a busy schedule of proposals and with many relationships. 
  • Must have very strong analytical skills, able to analyze data and develop targeted development strategies based on research. 
  • Must demonstrate creativity of approach and ability to work as member of a team to craft right contact for funding source. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in related area preferred or relevant professional experience. 
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. 
  • Proficiency in related technologies: Office 365, Salesforce, and others as needed; training provided. 
  • Driver’s license and use of a vehicle required; ability to travel as needed throughout New Jersey and from time to time beyond New Jersey. 
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. 
  • Able to work extended hours when needed. 
  • Willingness to act in an “as-needed” capacity for emergencies.
