Job Description – Senior Integration Engineer (Workato)

 

Position Summary

We are looking for a Senior WorkatoEngineer to join our Integration team and take ownership of designing,developing, and supporting enterprise-grade integrations using Workato.

The role will primarily work onintegrations involving applications such as WMS, ChurnZero, ERP systems, CRMplatforms, databases, APIs, and other enterprise applications. The idealcandidate should have strong hands-on experience with Workato and a solidunderstanding of API-based integrations, architecture, data transformation,event-driven integrations, and enterprise integration patterns.

This is a senior technical rolerequiring someone who can independently understand business requirements,design scalable integration solutions, develop and test Workato recipes,troubleshoot production issues, and work closely with application, product, andbusiness teams.


Key Responsibilities


Workato Development & Integration

  •  Design, develop, deploy, and maintain complex integrations using Workato.
  • Build scalable and reusable Workato recipes, connectors, workflows, and integration frameworks.
  • Develop integrations between WMS, ChurnZero, ERP, CRM, databases, SaaS applications, and other enterprise systems.
  • Work with REST/SOAP APIs, webhooks, JSON, XML, HTTP, OAuth, and other integration technologies.
  • Implement data mapping, transformation, validation, enrichment, and orchestration between multiple systems.
  • Develop reusable integration components and establish standards for recipe development.
  • Implement synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns based on business and technical requirements.
  • Work with scheduled, event-driven, API-triggered, and real-time integrations.

Integration Architecture

  • Translate business and technical requirements into robust integration solutions.
  • Design end-to-end integration architecture considering scalability, performance, security, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Recommend appropriate integration patterns and technologies based on the use case.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate existing integrations.
  • Establish best practices for Workato development, naming standards, error handling, logging, monitoring, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with architects and senior engineers on integration architecture and technical decisions.

WMS & Enterprise Applications

  • Develop and maintain integrations involving Infios WMS and related warehouse/business processes.
  • Understand data and transaction flows between WMS and surrounding enterprise applications.
  • Work with inventory, order, shipment, fulfillment, product, customer, warehouse, and other business-related data where applicable.
  • Troubleshoot data synchronization and integration issues across WMS and downstream/upstream systems.
  • Collaborate with WMS and application teams to understand integration dependencies and transaction flows.

API & Connectivity

  • Design and consume REST and SOAP APIs.
  • Work with API authentication mechanisms including OAuth 2.0, API keys, Basic Authentication, and other enterprise security mechanisms.
  • Develop and troubleshoot webhooks and event-based integrations.
  • Work with databases and SQL for data extraction, validation, reconciliation, and troubleshooting.
  • Integrate with third-party SaaS applications and enterprise platforms.
  • Understand API rate limits, pagination, retries, idempotency, throttling, and transaction management.

Production Support & Troubleshooting

  • Provide technical ownership for production integrations and resolve integration failures within defined SLAs.
  • Analyze failed transactions, logs, error messages, API responses, and data discrepancies.
  • Implement robust retry, exception handling, alerting, and recovery mechanisms.
  • Monitor integration health and proactively identify potential failures.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent fixes for recurring integration issues.
  • Support production deployments and participate in incident/problem management activities.

Quality & Delivery

  • Perform unit, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing of integration workflows.
  • Validate data integrity across source and target systems.
  • Work with QA and business teams to define integration test scenarios.
  • Participate in code/design reviews and ensure adherence to development standards.
  • Maintain technical documentation, integration specifications, data mappings, and support documentation.
  • Follow appropriate SDLC, change management, version control, and deployment processes.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work closely with Business Analysts, Product Owners, Architects, QA, WMS teams, application developers, and business stakeholders.
  • Participate in technical discussions and provide integration-focused recommendations.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level integration engineers.
  • Review technical solutions and Workato recipes developed by other team members.
  • Take ownership of integration deliverables from requirement analysis through production deployment and support.


Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise application integration, with significant hands-on experience in Workato.
  • Strong hands-on experience developing and supporting Workato recipes and integrations.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, SOAP APIs, HTTP, JSON, XML, webhooks, and API authentication.
  • Experience with OAuth 2.0, API keys, authentication, authorization, and secure integration practices.
  • Strong experience with data transformation, mapping, validation, and orchestration.
  • Strong SQL/database knowledge.
  • Experience in integrating multiple enterprise applications and SaaS platforms.
  • Strong understanding of integration patterns such as:
    • Request/Response
    • Publish/Subscribe
    • Event-driven integration
    • Batch processing
    • Scheduled integration
    • Real-time integration
    • Asynchronous processing
  • Experience implementing error handling, retry mechanisms, logging, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
