Maintenance Technician 3rd Shift

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on production equipment, facility systems, and grounds while supporting safe and efficient plant operations. This role requires developing technical skills in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, as well as troubleshooting equipment issues. The technician will work independently on routine maintenance activities while continuing to develop advanced troubleshooting and system knowledge.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) activities on production equipment and facility systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment issues.
  • Use a multimeter to test circuits, fuses, relays, and contactors.
  • Read and interpret basic electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Trace and diagnose basic electrical control circuits.
  • Perform maintenance on bearings, conveyors, drive systems, and other production equipment.
  • Assist with equipment assembly, disassembly, and replacement of mechanical components.
  • Troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems including solenoids, regulators, and directional control valves.
  • Support machine reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate progression toward real-time equipment troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques.

Plant Operations

  • Understand and execute procedures required to start and initiate plant systems for production startup following weekends, holidays, or shutdown periods.
  • Develop a working knowledge of all plant systems and their locations.
  • Maintain a basic understanding of all production equipment within assigned departments.
  • Utilize iMaintenance software to:
    • Create work orders
    • Locate required parts
    • Issue and charge out parts used during repairs

Facility Maintenance

  • Perform general maintenance and repair activities for facility buildings and grounds.
  • Assist with upkeep of plant infrastructure and utility systems.
  • Support boiler, steam, and auxiliary plant equipment maintenance as assigned.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
  • Follow Arc Flash safety procedures and electrical safe work practices.
  • Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Time Management & Teamwork

  • Prioritize maintenance tasks based on production needs and equipment criticality.
  • Effectively manage work assignments and time.
  • Communicate equipment issues and repair status with team members and supervisors.
  • Participate in technical and safety training programs.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Technical Knowledge

  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of electrical prints and schematics.
  • Knowledge of motor controls and electrical components.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical drives, conveyors, bearings, and lubrication systems.
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices.
  • Familiarity with industrial maintenance software systems.

Skills

  • Ability to safely use maintenance tools and testing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance documentation.
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Safety Knowledge

  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Successful completion of Entry-Level/Lubricator Maintenance Technician requirements.
  • Basic understanding of industrial maintenance principles.
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to learn and apply technical maintenance concepts and troubleshooting techniques.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work in various industrial environments.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials and tools up to company standards.
  • Ability to work in elevated areas, confined spaces, and around moving machinery as required.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and perform maintenance duties safely.
