Steel Traditions is a custom steel window and door manufacturer in Vista, California. Our fabricators are skilled craftsmen, and we need a dependable team member to cut material, package finished units and deliver them with our company truck and trailer, so our fabricators can stay on their builds.
Responsibilities
- Cut steel material to length at the saw and cut station, following cut lists and shop drawings.
- Label, sort and stage cut material for each job so fabricators have what they need on time.
- Package and protect finished windows and doors for shipping.
- Load, secure and deliver finished units with the company truck and trailer to job sites and customers.
- Inspect the truck and trailer before and after each trip, and report any problems.
- Treat contractors, installers and customers with respect, and get delivery confirmations.
- Keep the cut station and shipping area clean, organized and safe.
- Use a tablet and our systems (production board and daily forms) to track cuts, packaging and deliveries.
Requirements
- Valid California driver's license and a clean driving record. Your driving record must pass our insurance review.
- Experience towing a trailer, including backing up and securing loads.
- Experience cutting metal with a saw, or a strong willingness to learn.
- Able to read a tape measure accurately and follow cut lists.
- Able to lift heavy material safely and work on your feet all day.
- Reliable and on time; wears required safety gear every day.
- Comfortable using a tablet and learning new tools.
Nice to Have
- Experience in a metal fabrication, welding or machine shop.
- Manual milling machine experience.
- Experience packaging or crating large or fragile products.
- Forklift certificate.
- Spanish speaker.
Schedule
- Full time, Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM start.
