About the Role:

Bailey Family Funeral Homes is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer to join our team. Responsibilities:

Direct and coordinate all aspects of funeral and memorial services from initial transfer to completion of services
Perform embalming, restorative art, and preparation of the deceased in accordance with state regulations
Meet with bereaved families to plan personalized funeral arrangements and provide compassionate guidance
Manage and prepare required legal documentation including death certificates, burial permits, and cremation authorizations
Coordinate with clergy, cemeteries, crematoriums, and other third-party service providers
Maintain preparation room, equipment, and facility in compliance with OSHA and state health standards
Provide aftercare support and grief resources to families following services

Requirements:

Active Connecticut Funeral Director and Embalmer license required
Associate's degree or higher in Mortuary Science from an accredited program
Prior experience in funeral service, embalming, and family arrangement conferences preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a calm, empathetic demeanor
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts
Valid driver's license with the ability to operate a funeral coach/hearse
High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail
