About Us
Momentum Hearing Centers helps people recover life's momentum through personalized, compassionate, and cutting-edge care. Our focus is on preventing decline through the medical treatment of hearing loss and tinnitus. With clinics across Utah and Wyoming, we build long-term relationships with patients using a best-practice treatment model.

The Externship
We're looking for a 4th-year Au.D. student who wants to focus on adult hearing loss treatment and help build the profession of audiology. Our Northern Utah clinics mainly treat adults. Here, hearing loss is handled as a medical condition with real consequences for cognition, communication, and quality of life. You'll be trained in a practice model where audiologists work as doctors, follow a defined standard of care, and own the patient's outcomes from the first evaluation through years of ongoing treatment.

This externship isn't about watching from the corner. You'll carry a growing caseload with direct mentorship from experienced audiologists. By the end of the year you should be able to run a full clinical schedule on your own.

What You'll Do

  • Perform comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, including speech-in-noise and word recognition testing
  • Lead treatment consultations and explain results, prognosis, and treatment plans clearly and with compassion
  • Fit and verify hearing technology using real-ear measurement and test box verification
  • Manage patients through a structured multi-year treatment program: conformity evaluations, follow-ups, and annual re-evaluations
  • Evaluate and manage tinnitus
  • Coordinate care and referrals with ENT and primary care physicians
  • Take part in weekly provider training on clinical protocols, patient communication, and practice standards

Who We're Looking For

  • A 4th-year Au.D. student in good standing at an accredited program
  • A strong interest in adult diagnostics and hearing loss treatment
  • Someone who believes audiology should be practiced at the top of its scope and wants to help move the profession forward
  • Confident, clear, caring communication with patients and their families
  • Coachable and driven to grow, with a high standard for your own clinical work

What You'll Gain

  • Hands-on experience in a high-volume adult practice built around a medical model
  • Mentorship focused on clinical skill, patient communication, and leadership
  • Training in the protocols and outcome-based approach that set our practice apart
  • A possible path to a full-time position after graduation
