Work on Sophisticated AI and Software Patents

An established Intellectual Property practice is seeking a registered Patent Agent in Washington, DC. The role involves patent work for clients developing advanced software and AI technologies, including natural language processing, machine learning, and large language models.

The Role

• Draft U.S. patent applications and prosecute them before the USPTO.
  
• Work with inventors to understand new technologies and develop effective claim strategies.
  
• Prepare Office Action responses and help clients make prosecution decisions.
  
• Contribute to patent opinions and client counseling.
  
• Provide technical support on litigation and other patent matters.
  

You will work alongside patent professionals with technical and industry experience on matters for both established companies and emerging businesses.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  
• USPTO registration and prior patent prosecution experience.
  
• Professional experience in AI, machine learning, large language models, or software. Experience with natural language processing is especially valuable.
  
• An advanced degree in Computer Science is strongly preferred.
  

Benefits

The expected base salary range is $140,000–$200,000, depending on patent prosecution experience, technical credentials, qualifications, and overall fit.
