Washington, DC Preferred or Remote

We're looking for a passionate communications professional to join our marketing and communications team and make a difference. As the Donor Communications Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in strengthening relationships with supporters and stakeholders through compelling, mission-driven communications. The ideal candidate is a gifted storyteller, skilled writer, and passionate communicator who understands how to inspire generosity and convey impact. 

As the Manager, Donor Communications, some key responsibilities will be: 

Strategic Communications 

  • Develop and implement donor communications strategies that align with BBYO's mission and fundraising goals 
  • Work closely with the Director of Grants and Philanthropic Engagement to ensure aligned messaging across donor and major funder communications 
  • Execute fundraising journeys in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including the use of journeys, dynamic data, A/B tests, and other features 
  • Support the Director of Grants and Philanthropic Engagement with Honor Society communications operations, including pulling relevant distribution lists, setting up communications in internal systems, and overseeing direct distribution 

Content Creation 

  • Draft, edit, and produce high-quality communications, including emails, one-pagers, donor video outlines, and website copy geared toward supporters 
  • Create tailored content for donor stewardship, including thank-you letters, impact updates, newsletters, and donor spotlights 
  • Manage content resource hub for fundraisers including templates, photos, statistics, quotes, and materials related to donor engagement 

Campaign Execution  

  • Manage and execute two major grassroots fundraising campaigns in collaboration with BBYO regions, including Giving Tuesday 
  • Write copy for five direct mailings a year; work with in-house design team and external mail house to create and mail appeals 
  • Write and manage messaging for fundraising campaigns, appeals, and special initiatives across print and digital platforms; track and report on metrics for all communications and campaigns 

BBYO International Convention (IC) Support 

  • Contribute to the development of donor-focused materials for the IC Adult Experience 
  • Support the development and growth of funder sponsorships at IC, coordinating with the SVP of Leadership Engagement on any major supporter sponsorship conversations to ensure consistent communication and execution onsite 
  • Support IC Adult Experience operations, including managing content for meter boards and leading on other content needs for adult attendees  
  • Serve as the on-the-ground point of contact for photo/video interviews during the IC Adult Experience, coordinating with the marketing team on content needs 

Essential Skills for Making a Lasting Impact 

  • Washington, DC preferred, open to remote locations in the United States 
  • A bachelor's degree in English, journalism, marketing, communications, or related area 
  • 3–5 years of experience in non-profit communications, donor relations, or related field 
  • Understanding of fundraising principles and the donor journey 
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a supporter-centric mindset 
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities; able to manage multiple projects and deadlines 
  • Familiarity with Jewish culture, values, and community preferred 
  • Some experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), email marketing platforms (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud), and basic design tools (e.g., Canva) 
  • Travel: 15% including BBYO Staff Conference, BBYO International Convention, team retreats, and funder meetings. Open to staffing summer programs should candidates be interested (not required). 

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Attend all major BBYO events including Staff Conference, and International Convention each year, as well as team retreats and other events as assigned. 
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without holding a visa or sponsorship.
