Position Summary
The Inside Sales Account Manager grows and supports data center accounts through proactive relationship management, consultative selling, and accurate order execution. Reporting to the Sales Manager, this role serves as the primary day-to-day contact for clients: responding to inbound requests, learning each client’s operations and project pipeline, identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities, preparing and following up on quotations, and converting requirements into complete, executable orders.
This role manages incoming orders and purchase orders from submission through delivery, coordinating closely with clients, sales, purchasing, operations, warehouse teams, carriers, and suppliers. Success requires commercial initiative, reliable follow-through, and strong knowledge of order processing, pricing, logistics, shipping cases, and protective packaging in schedule-critical data center environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Purchase Order Processing:Â Receive quote requests and purchase orders, verify part numbers, quantities, pricing, taxes, freight terms, ship-to locations, dates, and special instructions, resolve discrepancies, and enter and acknowledge orders accurately.
- Order Management:Â Manage revisions, releases, backorders, and closeout with a clear audit trail, and fulfill customer requests within one business day whenever possible.
- Inbound Requests and Quoting:Â Respond promptly to inquiries, clarify scope, specifications, pricing, delivery, packaging, and shipping requirements, prepare or coordinate quotations, and follow up on open quotes.
- Order Conversion:Â Convert accepted proposals into accurate sales orders.
- Relationship Development:Â Build trusted, long-term relationships with purchasing contacts, project managers, and operations teams through responsive service, regular outreach, and timely status updates.
- Account Growth:Â Proactively engage data center clients by phone and email to uncover needs, and pursue upsell and cross-sell opportunities in materials, components, shipping cases, protective packaging, expedited logistics, replenishment, and reusable-case programs.
- Delivery Execution:Â Confirm ship-to details, appointments, access requirements, staging plans, carrier selection, tracking, proof of delivery, and escalation paths.
- Documentation:Â Maintain accurate customer records, bills of material, packing lists, bills of lading, case inventories, return authorizations, and order history.
- Cross-Functional Coordination:Â Partner with sales, estimating, engineering, purchasing, production, quality, warehouse, finance, and transportation teams to meet client commitments.
- Risk Management:Â Identify supply, capacity, freight, packaging, and schedule risks early, and develop and communicate recovery plans before milestones are affected.
- CRM and Performance Tracking:Â Maintain accurate CRM records and track response time, open quotes, conversion, upsell activity, order accuracy, on-time delivery, case utilization, and customer satisfaction.
