Logistics Manager

Warehouse & Logistics | Full-Time | On-Site | Waxahachie, Texas

Americase is a Texas-based manufacturer and distributor of protective cargo cases and specialized shipping solutions, serving customers across the country and around the world. We are looking for a Logistics Manager to lead shipping across our three Texas facilities and serve as our in-house expert on U.S. customs, Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ), and import/export compliance.

Why Join Us?

  • Own the Function: Lead shipping operations and trade compliance as the company’s go-to expert.
  • Global Freight: Manage freight moving between the United States, Mexico, China, and customers around the world.
  • Protect the Business: Build compliant processes that keep the company audit-ready and free of penalties and border delays.
  • Growth Environment: Shape logistics strategy for a growing manufacturer with operations across three Texas facilities.

Position Summary

The Logistics Manager ensures materials and finished goods move on time and that every shipment, entry, and filing is accurate and compliant with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other agency requirements. Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, this role is responsible for inbound and outbound freight, raw material shipments to manufacturing partners in the United States, Mexico, and other countries, the return of finished goods, carrier and customs broker management, and all related documentation and regulatory filings.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on logistics leader with real FTZ and trade compliance experience who builds compliant processes, protects the company from penalties and border delays, and thrives in a fast-paced growth environment with changing demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shipping Operations: Lead shipping at all three Texas facilities, ensuring outbound shipments, including large and oversized freight, are complete, on time, properly packaged, and correctly documented.
  • In-Transit Visibility: Own the in-transit tracker for all inbound, outbound, cross-border, and inter-site shipments, communicating delays to Procurement and Production before they become shortages.
  • International Freight: Manage ocean and air freight from China and other international suppliers, including bookings, forwarder coordination, and port-to-door delivery.
  • Manufacturing Partner Shipments: Manage raw material shipments to partners in Mexico and other countries, and the return of finished goods to the U.S. or onward to overseas customers.
  • Domestic Freight: Manage LTL, FTL, and parcel shipping for inbound materials, inter-site transfers, and outbound shipments, coordinating dock schedules with the Senior Warehouse Manager.
  • Freight Strategy: Develop the freight strategy, including modes, lanes, consolidation, and routing guides, and partner with Procurement on supplier freight terms and Incoterms.
  • Vendor Management: Select, negotiate with, and manage carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and 3PLs, and maintain rate agreements and scorecards.
  • Freight Budget: Own the freight and logistics budget, track spend by lane, mode, and accessorials, and reduce premium and expedited freight.
  • Dangerous Goods: Ensure applicable shipments comply with DOT, IATA, and IMDG dangerous goods requirements, in partnership with HazMat Safety Consulting.
  • Contingency Planning: Develop plans for port delays, border disruptions, carrier failures, and geopolitical risk.
  • Data and Reporting: Maintain shipment data in ERP and TMS systems, and report on on-time delivery, on-time in-full, freight cost, entry accuracy, and audit results.

Trade Compliance and Foreign-Trade Zone

  • Compliance Lead: Serve as the in-house expert for U.S. customs and trade compliance and the primary liaison with CBP, the FTZ grantee and operator, customs brokers, and other agencies.
  • FTZ Operations: Lead FTZ operations, including admissions (CBP Form 214), weekly entries (CBP Forms 3461/7501), zone inventory control and ERP reconciliation, annual reconciliation, and the annual FTZ Board report.
  • FTZ Procedures and Fees: Maintain the FTZ procedures manual on file with CBP, the grantee, and manage Harbor Maintenance Fee payments and FTZ-related fees.
  • Classification and Origin: Ensure accurate HTS classification, valuation, country of origin, and marking for all imports, with compliance data established before material is received.
  • Export Compliance: Ensure export compliance for all shipments leaving the United States.
  • Mexico Production Documentation: Manage USMCA origin qualification, coordination with Mexican customs brokers on IMMEX requirements, and U.S. goods returned and assembled-abroad provisions.
  • Duty Savings: Lead tariff mitigation strategies, such as FTZ benefits, duty drawback, and free trade agreement qualification, in compliance with trade laws.
  • Recordkeeping and Audits: Maintain import and export records to CBP requirements, keep the company audit-ready, and conduct internal compliance audits.
  • Policy and Training: Develop trade compliance procedures, train shipping, warehouse, and procurement teams, and advise the Director of Supply Chain on regulatory changes.

Team Leadership

  • Shipping Supervisors: Lead, schedule, and direct Shipping Supervisors at each of the three Texas facilities, ensuring coverage across shifts and peak periods.
  • Training and Standards: Train shipping personnel on procedures, documentation, compliance, and safety, and hold the team accountable to standard procedures across all sites.
  • Performance Management: Conduct performance evaluations and partner with Human Resources on hiring, onboarding, staffing, and disciplinary decisions.
  • Escalation Point: Serve as the primary contact for freight, customs, and compliance issues that could affect production, delivery, or regulatory standing.

Qualifications
