Provides basic security and protection of persons and University buildings within the University community, including fire safety and emergency response.  Reports to the Public Safety Supervisor.

 

Qualifications
  • Serves as first responder to calls-for-service from students, faculty, staff and visitors concerning criminal or civil complaints, maintenance problems, safety situations, alarms sounding, etc.
  • Provides access control for buildings and other properties.
  • Handles special event details, money pick-ups, etc.
  • Enforces parking regulations and provides traffic direction/control.
  • Provides crime prevention foot patrols; inspects University property for safety hazards and reports identified hazards by way of incident report and/or University work order.
  • Provides personal escorts; responds to inquiries and requests for information.
  • Documents relevant incidents in the Public Safety report writing system.
  • Coordinates with local police and emergency medical services regarding response on campus.
  • Immediately notify Public Safety supervisory personnel of campus incidents and/or presence of law enforcement, fire or emergency medical services on campus.
  • Accurate written documentation of campus incidents
  • Maintain training as Campus Security Authority (CSA) as it relates to the Clery Act.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Public Safety or designee.
