Principal Digital Designer, Creative Tech

Creative Tech is an embedded team within Creative Lab operating with a startup mindset to build, test, and scale the future of creative production. We combine AI-powered asset pipelines, agentic workflows, and scalable visual systems to help an agile team deliver creative work at the volume, speed, and quality today's business requires.

Working across paid social, connected TV, digital audio, multiple brands, markets, and languages, the team partners closely with machine learning scientists, engineers, and creative technologists to transform how creative gets made. Through rapid experimentation, continuous learning, and collaboration with leading AI model partners, we are building the next generation of visual storytelling systems.

We are looking for a Principal Digital Designer to lead the craft and execution of our creative output as production scales. This role sits at the intersection of design excellence, systems thinking, and emerging technology. You will elevate the quality of AI-assisted creative, establish design standards across scalable production workflows, and help define how human creativity and automation work together to create exceptional brand experiences.

This is not a traditional production designer role. You will help shape the systems, standards, and workflows that enable world-class creative to scale across markets, channels, and formats while ensuring every asset meets the highest bar for quality and brand integrity.

In this role, you will

  • Own and evolve the visual template systems that power our AI-enabled production pipeline, balancing creative flexibility with scalable automation
  • Establish and maintain design standards that ensure consistent, high-quality output across large-scale, multi-market creative programs
  • Serve as a senior craft leader, providing mentorship, creative direction, and feedback to designers and creative technologists
  • Drive final design quality across AI-generated, template-driven, and localized creative assets, ensuring work is polished, accurate, and production-ready
  • Lead design reviews for global and localized campaigns, identifying layout, translation, brand consistency, and market-specific issues before launch
  • Partner with Creative Technologists, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to define production-ready requirements and scalable design guardrails
  • Proactively identify workflow bottlenecks and implement solutions that improve efficiency without compromising creative quality
  • Collaborate closely with brand, marketing, legal, and business teams to ensure creative output remains on-brand, compliant, and aligned with business objectives
  • Help develop documentation, best practices, and design frameworks as new formats and technologies emerge, including AI-generated video, audio, avatars, and immersive experiences
  • Contribute to team planning, roadmap discussions, and resource prioritization as a senior creative leader and trusted strategic partner

Experience and qualifications

  • You have 10+ years of experience in digital design, with senior or principal-level experience in high-volume creative environments such as performance marketing organizations, technology companies, in-house creative studios, or agencies
  • You have at least 5 years of experience leading, mentoring, and developing designers while helping teams adopt emerging technologies and new ways of working
  • You have a strong portfolio that demonstrates both exceptional creative craft and systems thinking, including template-based design, design systems, component libraries, or scalable content production frameworks
  • You have experience working with AI-powered creative tools, node-based workflows, and emerging generative AI technologies
  • You have direct experience supporting localization and globalization efforts and understand how to design for adaptable layouts, language expansion, and market-specific nuances
  • You have a clear perspective on where AI and automation can accelerate creative production and where human judgment remains critical to maintaining quality and brand integrity
  • You possess exceptional quality assurance instincts and can identify the subtle issues that emerge at scale, including copy overflow, translation errors, formatting inconsistencies, and brand deviations
  • You have experience across digital advertising channels such as paid social, connected TV, digital video, and digital audio
  • You excel at collaborating across disciplines and can effectively partner with engineering, marketing, legal, product, and business stakeholders
  • You are comfortable operating in evolving environments, bringing structure, judgment, and leadership while helping teams build and scale new capabilities
  • You are an exceptional creative thinker and communicator who can translate complex systems and production challenges into clear, actionable solutions

Why this role

This is a unique opportunity to help define the future of AI-native creative production. Rather than simply executing within an existing system, you will play a central role in shaping how creative quality, technology, and scalable design operations come together. Your work will influence how some of the world's most recognized travel brands create and deliver content, reaching audiences at a scale and speed few creative teams have the opportunity to achieve.
