The Defense Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for a Test Engineer to work at our Picatinny Arsenal, NJ site. A Test Engineer is a creative and driven individual who is passionate about advancing propulsion technology. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in experimental research and a desire to work on challenging and innovative projects. As a Test Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and testing sub-scale propulsion components to capture combustion physics-based properties. You will work closely with a team of engineers and researchers to develop and execute test plans, analyze data, and report findings.

Primary Responsibilities.

Design, build, and test sub-scale propulsion components to capture combustion physics-based properties.

Develop and execute test plans, including the selection of appropriate instrumentation and data acquisition systems.

Analyze test data to identify trends, draw conclusions, and make recommendations for future research.

Prepare and present technical reports and presentations to both internal and external audiences.

Collaborate with a team of engineers and researchers to design and develop new test rigs and experimental techniques.

Maintain and calibrate test equipment to ensure accurate and reliable data collection.

Ensure a safe and efficient test environment by following all safety protocols and procedures.

Basic Qualifications.

A bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or a closely related field.

A solid understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and combustion principles.

Hands-on experience with experimental setup, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.

Proficiency in data analysis software such as MATLAB or Python.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with keen attention to detail.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

US Citizenship required.
