UTILITY PERSON Â - Culinary SERVICES
Pines Village | Whiting, NJ
Pines Village, A Fellowship Life premiere communit, a mission-based not-for-profit continuing care retirement community, is seeking a reliable and team-oriented Utility Person to support our Dining Services department.
Position Summary
The Utility Person performs essential kitchen support duties including dishwashing, cleaning, floor care, and food cart delivery. This role plays a key part in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient dining environment for our residents and staff. All duties are performed in compliance with federal and state regulations and facility policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash pots, pans, dishes, and kitchen equipment using commercial dishwashers and sanitizing solutions
- Clean kitchen floors, work surfaces, and equipment
- Deliver food carts to resident floors
- Receive and properly store food, supplies, and equipment
- Take and record temperatures of refrigerated and frozen items
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Follow infection control and safety procedures
- Interact respectfully with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers
- Attend required meetings and in‑service training
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold resident rights
- Assist with training new team members as assigned
Qualifications
- No formal education required
- No prior experience necessary – on-the-job training provided
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions
- Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling (up to 100 lbs.)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Working Conditions
- Exposure to heat, cold, wet environments, cleaning chemicals, and kitchen equipment
- Moderate physical effort with frequent movement
