SUMMARY

The Tooling Engineering Manager manages and directs the activities of the Tool & Die department to develop tools and dies in conjunction with engineering and manufacturing departments. Ensures creation of design documentation and functionality of associated support systems.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

Establishes and monitors consistent tool & die practices.

Develops, documents, sustains engineering documentation processes including complete tool designs, setup sheets, repair documentation, and PM guides.

Prioritizes, tracks, and maintains records of the elements, costs, and time schedules of multiple projects.

Provides and facilitates maintenance of the CAD hardware and software for the department.

Reviews quality of final product before release to client.

Selects, supervises, and obtains cost estimates from outside vendors.

Confers with clients regarding budget, background information, objectives, presentation approaches, and selection of media.

Delegates internally to maximize impact of efficiency on the business.

Performs other related duties as assigned to support the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree required.

Master’s degree preferred.

10 years minimum machining/design experience.

Designed multiple tools.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Represents tool & die team within the company and across divisions.  

Can speak for the team technically. 

Excellent written & verbal skills.

REASONING ABILITIES

Long-range planning for tool & die of existing and new product families.

Owns the feature set or product family tooling design.

Technical / business leader.

Exhibits business division influence.

Mentor / role model for tool & die employees.

Assignments are self-initiated.  

Champions process improvements of associated support systems.
