Job Summary

Supervises the facilities department while supporting a variety of functions in the department.  This role is responsible for leading and developing staff and managing the facility efficiently and effectively. When necessary, this role also provides hands on assistance or training to facilitate the completion of required maintenance tasks.

Ensures efficient daily operations of the maintenance department, Hospital and ambulatory departments’ compliance of Regulatory Standards and Requirements which includes environment of care and life safety standards. 

Job Responsibilities

  1. Supervises and provides direction to maintenance staff along with monitoring of the work order system.  Ensure work is completed in a timely manner and to the satisfaction of the customer.
  2. Responsible for monthly inspections and preventative maintenance of offsite facilities scheduled by the Facility Manager to meet all local, state, and federal regulations.  Coordinates with offsite program leadership to coordinate monthly environment of care rounds.
  3. Collaborates with the Facility Manager in identifying and addressing maintenance and safety issues for the location.  Monitor supply usage and completed repairs to maintain adequate inventory of building and maintenance materials. Conduct weekly inspections to ensure buildings and grounds are properly maintained for clients, staff, visitors, and regulatory agencies.
  4. Appropriately documents rounding, testing, drills, etc.
  5. Assist with the scheduling of outside contractors and ensure quality control of same in the absence of the Facility Manager.
  6. Manage emergency preparedness protocols to maintain safe conditions during adverse weather, including coordinating timely snow and ice removal.
  7. Assist with responsibilities for emergencies and after-hours coverage.
  8. Perform other related duties as required.


  • High School diploma
  • Five years of General Maintenance, Carpentry, Painting, Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical experience
  • Five years of experience in building/property maintenance preferred
  • Two years of experience in a supervisory position is preferred
  • Two years of experience in a similar healthcare environment is preferred
  • One year prior experience in a union setting is preferred
