Seasonal Nursery Yard Crew

Description

Chalet is a fourth generation, family owned retailer that has served our community for over 100 years. We sell a variety of products including outdoor plants, indoor plants, garden products, outdoor furniture, home and holiday decorations, and pet food/supplies.

We have an opportunity for a new team member who likes to work mostly outside in a very physical job. You’ll primarily be responsible for maintaining the plants in our Nursery then prep to be ready for the busy Fall/Holiday season, with Christmas trees, garlands, wreaths, and décor ready for customers to purchase.

Responsibilities include:

• Unloading tree and shrub trucks.
• Healing trees and shrubs to protect for the winter.
• Pounding stakes to put up Christmas trees.
• Stocking firewood and filling firewood boxes.
• Unloading Christmas trees and Christmas greens.
• Setting up the Nursery yard for the change in seasons.
• Watering plants.
• Supporting our planting crew (planting at customers’ homes), delivery team (going out on deliveries), and our Support team (loading customers’ cars) as needed.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• We're looking for helpful, hardworking and accountable people who can lift at least ideally 75-100 lbs.
• Being comfortable working actively and being on your feet for 8 or 9 hour shifts.
• Available to work 5 days per week (including 1 shift on a weekend day if possible) with a schedule that is 7:30am-5pm daily.
• Previous experience working with plants or in retail or a warehouse is a plus.
• Forklift experience is a plus.
