Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

 

This position is in the Fiber Capital Programs (FCP) department within the Advanced Manufacturing Technology group (AMT) and is focused on equipment deployment, commissioning, and startup. You’ll work alongside a cross-functional project team, interfacing with system integrators and machine builders at domestic and international manufacturing sites. This is a high-impact, field-forward role for someone who thrives in fast-moving project environments and brings deep expertise in industrial controls and manufacturing equipment systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical discipline support in the construction, testing, installation, and debug of manufacturing equipment systems at domestic and international sites
  • Interface with external system integrators and machine builders to deliver fully integrated process equipment on time, on budget, and to defined performance standards
  • Develop and execute detailed equipment installation plans; supervise contract trades groups during installation phases
  • Lead troubleshooting for equipment and process issues during installation and startup; identify root causes and implement long-term corrective actions
  • Support development of integrated industrial control systems for new manufacturing equipment and modifications to existing equipment

Required Qualifications

  • Associate of Applied Science or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing equipment or manufacturing engineering
  • Demonstrated technical background in equipment design, selection, and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems including analog/digital I/O, control sequence logic, and failsafe state definitions
  • Experience working with project plans and timelines in a manufacturing or construction environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally; travel may be full-time during active equipment deployment phases

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in optical fiber manufacturing (development, engineering, or operations)
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar design tools; Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Project)
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or construction environment with a demonstrated focus on job site safety

The range for this position is $70,719.00 - $97,239.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
