Description

Work Location: In-person role based in Windham, NY. 


Seasonal Position: This role is available for the winter season.


Pay: 25 per hour for entry level
 

Anticipated Start Dates:  Weather-dependent, typically beginning in early December. Opportunities may be available as early as November for candidates interested in Snowmaking.


Scheduling Expectations:   This position primarily works overnight shifts. Peak operations occur on weekends, holidays, and during overnight hours. Weekend availability and schedule flexibility are required.


Conditions:   Comfortable working at heights and overnight hours. This role is primarily performed inside a grooming vehicle.
 

Position Summary:


Are you a night owl who prefers to work alone? As a Snow Groomer at Windham Mountain Club, you'll help create and maintain exceptional snow conditions across the mountain. Groomers play a critical role in delivering a high-quality guest experience by operating specialized equipment to groom trails, maintain terrain, and support safe mountain operations. This position requires focus, responsibility, and the ability to work independently during overnight shifts.


Key Responsibilities: 


  • Operate grooming equipment on all ski terrain, including grooming, moving, and compacting snow.
  • Maintain high-quality trail conditions for skiers and riders of all ability levels.
  • Navigate terrain safely while protecting underground infrastructure and mountain assets.
  • Inspect equipment and perform basic preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Refuel and maintain grooming machinery as needed.
  • Assist with housekeeping and upkeep of grooming facilities.
  • Report mechanical issues and inventory needs promptly.
  • Arrive prepared and on time for scheduled shifts.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.


Qualifications:


  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to remain alert and focused during overnight shifts.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely operate vehicles in winter weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to wear and use required safety equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to navigate uneven, snowy, and icy terrain.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
