JOB OVERVIEW 

The kitchen manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen. This includes overseeing food preparation, supervising kitchen staff, managing inventory, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.

 

Essential Job Functions:  

  • Food Preparation: Supervise and participate in the preparation and cooking of food items according to recipes and quality standards.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, train, and schedule kitchen staff. Provide guidance and direction to kitchen team members, including chefs, cooks, and food preparers. Monitor employee performance and provide feedback.
  • Inventory Management: Manage kitchen inventory, including ordering supplies and ingredients, maintaining stock levels, and minimizing waste. Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy.
  • Menu Development: Collaborate with the chef and management team to develop and update menu offerings. Ensure that menus are cost-effective, seasonally appropriate, and meet customer preferences.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all food products meet quality and safety standards. Monitor food preparation methods, portion sizes, and presentation to maintain consistency and customer satisfaction.
  • Sanitation and Safety: Enforce sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen, including proper food handling, storage, and cleaning procedures. Conduct regular inspections to identify and address any health or safety hazards.
  • Budget Management: Assist in developing and managing the kitchen budget, including labor costs, food costs, and overhead expenses. Implement cost-saving measures while maintaining quality and service standards.
  • Customer Service: Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth communication and efficient service. Address customer concerns or complaints regarding food quality or service issues.


Skills / Knowledge Required: 

  • At least 3 years of experience preferred
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure.
  • Preferred qualifications include a culinary degree or relevant certification.
  • Proficiency in kitchen management software - POS systems
  • Requires standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods.
