Job Details: Job Location: Camden Peer - Woodbine, GA, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: High School / GED, Salary Range: $15.00, Job Shift: Morning, Job Summary:Under close to general supervision, the Transporter provides safe and reliable transportation of consumers, staff, mail, materials, and equipment within assigned service areas. This position ensures the safe operation and maintenance of agency vehicles, supports program operations, assists with facility upkeep when required, and maintains accurate transportation records. The Transporter serves as a representative of the agency and promotes excellent customer service and safety standards during all transportation activities.Essential Functions: Operates agency vehicles to transport consumers, staff, mail, supplies, equipment, and materials. Ensures the safe transportation of passengers in accordance with agency policies and motor vehicle laws. Conducts pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Reports all accidents, incidents, mechanical failures, and vehicle safety concerns promptly. Performs and/or assists with routine preventive maintenance of agency vehicles. Maintains vehicle cleanliness and ensures vehicles remain in safe operating condition. May assist with general maintenance of office areas, grounds, and facilities. Coordinates and assigns available vehicles to agency employees as directed. Completes and submits required transportation logs, mileage reports, inspection reports, and related documentation. Maintains accurate records regarding transportation services and vehicle usage. Assists consumers entering and exiting vehicles when appropriate. Monitors passenger behavior and reports safety concerns or incidents. Provides courteous and professional customer service to consumers, staff, and community partners. Supports transportation scheduling and coordination activities as assigned. Ensures compliance with agency transportation policies and safety procedures. Ability to recognize accomplishments and support positive consumer engagement. Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality. Any combination of training and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position. Valid Georgia Class C (Class I) driver's license. When operating vehicles 80 inches wide or wider and designed to carry more than ten (10) passengers, a valid Class B (Class III) driver's license is required. Acceptable driving record in accordance with agency requirements. Experience operating passenger vehicles, vans, or similar transportation equipment preferred.Upon appointment to the position, the employee assumes responsibility for meeting and maintaining all minimum qualification requirements, including applicable certifications, licenses, continuing education, competency validations, and mandatory annual or recurrent training. Failure to maintain such requirements may affect eligibility to perform assigned duties.Supervisory Responsibilities:None.Work Environment:This position requires driving agency vehicles to transport consumers, staff, mail, and materials throughout the service area. Duties are performed in vehicles, office environments, agency facilities, and community settings. Frequent travel between Gateway locations and throughout the community is required.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Frequently walks, sits, stands, and kneels. Occasionally climbs, balances, bends, and stoops. Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 15 pounds. Must be able to sit for extended periods while operating vehicles and working at a computer. Frequently utilizes fine hand-eye coordination, hearing, and visual acuity. Must be able to travel between Gateway sites and throughout the community. May be required to assist passengers entering and exiting vehicles.
