3 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Purpose
As a Contact Worker, you will supervise family time sessions between children and their families, ensuring that all contact takes place in a safe, positive, and child-focused environment. You will observe interactions, support positive family relationships, and produce accurate factual recordings that may be used within court proceedings.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- Supervise contact sessions between children and family members.
- Ensure family time is safe, child-centred, and appropriate.
- Observe and monitor interactions during contact sessions.
- Produce accurate, factual, and professional written reports following each session.
- Maintain detailed records that may be submitted as evidence in court proceedings.
- Support children and families during supervised contact sessions.
- Promote safeguarding and the welfare of children at all times.
- Facilitate contact sessions within designated venues and community settings.
- Work collaboratively with social workers and other professionals.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection requirements.
- Ensure all observations and recordings meet required service standards.
Essential Experience Required
- Experience working with children, young people, or families.
- Experience within Social Care, Family Support, Youth Work, Residential Care, Education, Children's Services, or similar settings.
- Experience producing accurate written records and reports.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
- Ability to observe and record information objectively and factually.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage challenging situations professionally.
- Experience working with vulnerable children and families is desirable.
Essential Qualifications Required
- Relevant experience in Children's Services, Family Support, Social Care, or related field.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
