Are you a strong swimmer? Do you enjoy teaching others and sharing your passion for aquatics? If so, Greendale Family Branch YMCA is looking for you to join our amazing Aquatics Team!


We are currently seeking year round Swim Instructors who want to be part of a team! Swim Instructors are responsible for teaching skill and technique to a vast array of ages while maintaining a safe, friendly pool environment for our members. Typical hours vary – weekdays, daytime, evenings, and weekends, with a preference for daytime and evening weekday availability.

Job Type: Part-time


Pay: $15.00 per hour. Plus, access to YMCA facilities for all YMCA employees, Employee Assistance Program, and Sick Leave


Job Requirements:

  • Be at least 16 years old.
  • Swim 300 yards, continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing.
  • Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both, but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used.
  • Tread water for 2 minutes, using only the legs.
  • Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds which involves starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Surface dive, feet-first or headfirst, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object. Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back carrying the object with their face at or near the surface so they are able to get a breath and exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
  • Hold Swim Instructor certification or willing to earn swim instruction certification
