This position is ECB status – requires a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department; limited benefit offerings.

Job Summary: Operates mammography equipment to produce radiographic images of the breast for screening exams under the general supervision of a radiologist.

Minimum Education: Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program. Must have completed or will complete within nine months from hire date, 40 hours documented training specific to mammography and 8 hours modality specific digital training in accordance with Mammograph Quality Standards Act.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and must be Certified in Mammography within nine months from date of hire.

Work Experience: 0 - 6 months related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Competent to perform screening mammograms on men and women of mammography age 18 - 100 years. Demonstrated skills and knowledge of mammography unit and basic positioning skills. Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner. Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Performs timely screening mammography, with less than 5% repeat rate. Enters accurate patient history and charges off exam. Explains exam in a manner patient can understand, gains patient cooperation and reduces patient anxiety. Complies with all departmental and hospital policies. Performs other duties as required by lead technologist or manager.

Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.

Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
