Overview
Pertemps Recruitment, on behalf of Buckinghamshire Council, has an exciting opportunity for a Community Support Officer to join the Helping Hands team in Aylesbury. Working alongside the team, you will play an important role in helping those in Buckinghamshire who are considered vulnerable (in various aspects be that financial, age or whatever) access packages that will help them. It will mostly be phone based work and you will likely have to face sensitive issues and help work through them. You should be tactful and compassionate whilst confident and reassuring.

About the role
As a Community Support Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Taking phone calls
  • Communicating with residents that need support, i.e. food, fuel, debt and may require additional support, they may be eligible for grants
  • Finding available solutions to address issues
  • Completing Grant forms, requires excellent written skills and the ability to accurately summarise
  • Updating a comprehensive briefing document
  • Attending daily team touchdown meetings
This is a temporary position until 30/09/2022, though there is potential for this to be extended further. The pay rate is �14.00 per hour, and you will be working full time, 37 hours per week. Buckinghamshire Council are working on a hybrid basis where you will work remotely for 3-4 days per week and in the office 1-2 days per week.

The Aylesbury office is conveniently situated in the town centre (HP20 1UA area) with great transport links including a local train station and excellent road connections to the M25, M1, M4 and M40.

About you
The successful candidate(s) should have:
  • An empathetic nature
  • Really good listening skills (calls can be quite difficult, uncomfortable, people may be upset)
  • An understanding of people's issues - must ask quite invasive and personal question so you need to be confident with this
  • Very good organisational skills as you may be dealing with 5 to 10 cases at a time
