This position is to cover maternity leave and will be for 9months to 1 yearReporting to the Deputy Director of Marketing, you will be responsible for leading the s marketing team to ensure that the needs of our 16,000 members are fully understood and they are successfully engaged in the activities and support that we provide.

* Work with the Deputy Director of Marketing to ensure that the marketing team is supporting the organisation in achieving its vision, promises and tattoos, and translate this into clear strategic direction for members of the marketing team * Lead the team in providing high quality marketing materials to all departments ensuring that their ongoing needs are understood and that projects are completed within agreed timescales and budgets * Oversee the effective day-to-day direction and management of the brand and identity to maximise member engagement * Oversee the effective use of research and data to make sure that we continue to understand the needs of our members and that we use this information to drive our work as a Union * Successfully communicate the purpose of the Union to our members, staff, and key stakeholders, including the wider community * Ensure that all records or personal information are in line with the General Data Protection Regulations * Manage all external communications, PR and media activity undertaken by the Union, including relationships with local, regional and national news and media organisations * Undertake all aspects of line management for the Marketing team including leading and developing a team of marketing professionals to perform at the highest level, and overseeing all recruitment, induction, development and performance management of staff and volunteers * Ensure that all marketing activity is compliant with relevant legislation including, but not limited to, GDPR, PECR,CAM-SPAM and Media Law * Oversee the implementation and compliance of the Social Media Policy, Email Marketing & Surveys Policy and Procedures, and any others that are relevant to the Marketing department * Support the development and management of clear systems and processes for managing marketing work undertaken on behalf of departments within the SU, including design, print, digital, video, web and social media * Manage the marketing department budget, ensuring that we achieve the best value for money in all of the work we undertake * Manage our important relationships with University staff, particularly key contacts in the Communications and External Relations department * Build and maintain effective relationships with external providers, including designers, agencies and printers * Undertake individual projects as required for the benefit of students * Undertake regular and appropriate CPD activities * All staff are expected to display a ‘hands on, can do attitude’ and participate in Union wide projects such as Elections, Summer Ball and Welcome Week, Exams Campaign throughout the year to support the achievement of organisational targetsPERSON SPECIFICATIONStrong management experience in a relevant field at a middle or senior lHolds a professional or management qualification or degree in a related area, or willing to undertakeExperience of leading and inspiring others in achieving organisational objectivesExperience of all aspects of Line Management, including recruitment, development, performance management and appraisalPrevious experience of project management and evaluationPrevious experience of setting and managing budgets and producing financial and statistical reports is desirableEvidence of successfully achieving against organisational targetsOperational knowledge of risk assessments, health and safety and safeguarding considerations in relation to relevant activitiesAbility to ensure departmental compliance with GDPR RegulationsExcellent written, oral communication and presentation skillsExcellent problem solving, negotiating and influencing skillsAbility to build and maintain effective networks internally and externallyEvidence of continuing professional development at a senior levelood IT skills i.
