Contracts Manager – Civil Engineering

Location: Aberdeen

A respected and well-established civil engineering contractor based in Aberdeen is currently seeking a dedicated Contracts Manager to join its dynamic commercial team. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects and a longstanding commitment to the health and safety of its workforce, the company continues to set industry standards across the region.

This opportunity would suit either an experienced Contracts Manager with a background in civil engineering projects, or an Engineer looking to progress into a more commercially focused role. The organisation delivers work across a range of sectors, with particular emphasis on roads, groundworks, and infrastructure frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identifying and developing commercial opportunities during the tender process
  • Preparing and submitting competitive tenders
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with both new and existing clients
  • Developing and managing short- and long-term project programmes
  • Producing monthly progress and performance reports
  • Overseeing material procurement, labour allocation, and plant resourcing on site
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual requirements
  • Monitoring project delivery and applying corrective measures where necessary
  • Conducting thorough project close-out procedures and compiling reports
  • Assisting in the development and execution of commercial strategies
  • Supporting timely and accurate reporting for management review
  • Monitoring and supporting the performance of project teams

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or a closely related discipline)
  • Practical experience within civil engineering, particularly in civil groundwork and infrastructure projects.
  • A sound understanding of health and safety policies and practices
  • A structured and methodical approach to work
  • Familiarity with contracting principles and standard forms of contract
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and client-facing skills
  • Proven experience in building and maintaining professional relationships
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general IT tools
  • A full, clean UK driving licence
