Overview
We are recruiting for an experienced HSEQ Advisor to support the delivery of a safe, compliant, and customer-focused service across a range of civil engineering and construction projects.
This is a key role within the business, ensuring full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality regulations, while supporting continuous improvement across all operational activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide HSEQ support and guidance across all areas of the business
- Ensure full compliance with current H&S, environmental and quality legislation
- Lead or support accident, incident and near-miss investigations
- Develop, maintain and audit the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001)
- Deliver site inspections, audits and monitoring programmes
- Produce quarterly board-level HSEQ reports
- Maintain and manage the Business Risk Register
- Support the start-up of new projects and operations
- Liaise with clients, regulators and external bodies including HSE & SEPA
- Support tender submissions and commercial activities
- Assist HR with Occupational Health, Drug & Alcohol testing and Mental Health initiatives
- Promote a strong safety culture through coaching, mentoring and training
Requirements
Essential:
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health
- Grad IOSH Membership with active CPD
- ISO Internal Auditor qualification
- Environmental qualification (IOSH Managing Environmental Responsibilities or NVQ Level 2/3)
- Civils or heavy construction HSEQ experience
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- IT literate – Microsoft Office
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Strong problem solving and organisational skills
- Able to work on own initiative and meet deadlines
Desirable:
- Experience within civil engineering or construction
- Client-facing HSEQ experience
