Role Overview

Due to continued expansion, our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Operations Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of their Aberdeen sites. This is a key leadership role, ensuring that all operational activities are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget, while supporting business growth and continuous improvement.

The Operations Manager will act as a central point of communication between site managers, employees, contractors, and external vendors, ensuring seamless operations across multiple functions. The role requires strong leadership, operational insight, and a commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence.



Key Objectives

  • Maintain constant and effective communication with managers, staff, contractors, and vendors to ensure smooth and efficient company operations.

  • Ensure full compliance with all Group Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and legal requirements, promoting a strong safety-first culture across all sites.

  • Review, develop, and improve existing operational processes and procedures to enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall company performance.

  • Ensure all operational activities are delivered on schedule and within agreed budgets, identifying and addressing risks or delays proactively.

  • Monitor staffing levels and operational needs, planning workforce requirements and overseeing recruitment and onboarding of new employees as required.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership to a small operational team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment, setting clear expectations and driving high performance.

  • Motivate, coach, and support team members, ensuring appropriate training, development, and performance management.

  • Work closely with the HSE and Legal departments to ensure compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and contractual obligations.

  • Oversee daily operational activities across the Aberdeen sites, ensuring effective coordination of logistics, plant operations, and resources.

  • Monitor operational performance using key metrics and KPIs, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing corrective actions where required.

  • Manage relationships with suppliers, contractors, and service providers to ensure quality, cost control, and continuity of service.

  • Contribute to strategic planning and operational decision-making to support business growth and long-term objectives.



Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Proven experience in an Operations Manager or similar senior operational role.

  • Strong understanding of business productivity, process optimisation, and performance management.

  • Experience in Waste Management and/or Metal Recycling would be a significant advantage.

  • Knowledge of road transport logistics, including fleet coordination and scheduling.

  • Plant maintenance knowledge, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and oversee maintenance activities to minimise downtime.

  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
