Cammach are recruiting for a QC Inspector for a busy and expanding Fabrication client based in Aberdeen. This would be a permanent staffing position.
(Applicants must hold their CSWIP 3.1 and have experience in a similar role)
ROLE
The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for the quality control and welding activities necessary for the successful achievement of a quality product produced within the client General day to day running of the QC office and ensuring commonality of all shared IT information.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for quality control / Inspection activities to ensure that client production quality is maintained.
- Responsible for reporting to the Project Engineer upon disciplinary matters that arise within client in terms of breaches of quality and safety related issues.
- In Liaison with the Project Engineer identify individual quality staff development needs and encourage personal development.
- Carry out / authorise quality department – specific tasks required during client production, certification, and final inspection.
- In conjunction with the Project Engineer review requirements: standards to be used etc.
- Maintain an overview, co-ordinate and be responsible for the monitoring of paperwork, Customer acceptance documentation and maintenance of the QC independent inspection system.
- Maintain the system of paperwork controls required to ensure the integrity of the product.
- Assist with investigation of production incidents and implantation measures to avoid reoccurrence.
- Maintain an overview of all work carried out by subcontractor’s including monitoring of sub-contractors working practices. Co-ordinate documentation and check for receipt back to client.
- The development of any necessary procedures / work instructions.
- Produce reports and provide input to higher level reviews as required.
- Ensure customer satisfaction requirements are maintained.
- Assist with investigation reports on engineering / technical incidents that arise at client.
- The raising of NCR’s and ensuring that the content of the reports conclude in a satisfactory manner.
- Review of reports prior to Project Engineer Approval.
- Where necessary, discuss in-depth with the customer the report contents and address any technical issues that may arise.
- Assess and authorise Technical query submissions and subsequent answers supplied from the clients.
- Provide induction training as required.
- Provide Quality awareness training as required.
- The production of data for customer reviews and client management views
- Ensuring compatibility of welding consumables including, delivery conditions, purchasing, consumable inspection reports, storage & handling.
- Ensuring that material traceability, storage, handling, and documentation is correct.
- Ensuring the following is carried out at pre welding inspection & testing: Suitability of welders, weld procedures, identification of parent materials, identity of welding consumables, joint preparation fit up etc. welding conditions.
- Ensuring the following is carried out during welding: welding parameters, pre heat / inter pass temperature, weld sequence, correct consumables, welder audits etc.
- Ensuring the following is carried out post welding: Visual inspection, non-destructive and destructive testing requests are raised as required. Review and approval of NDT reports.
- In conjunction with the Project Engineer monitor and record trends of NCR’s this may include customer complaints, dimensional errors, weld repairs etc.
- Ensure traceability of the following: Quality plans, ITP’s, weld locations, non-destructive procedures and personnel, identification of weld consumables, identification and traceability of parent material, identification and location of weld repairs, traceability of welders to specific welds, traceability of weld procedures to specific welds.
- Preparation and maintenance of quality records.
- To generate, review and record engineering queries against client specifications.
- Interface with manufacturing to ensure transfer to production of new products are in accordance with client requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
- Requires a high degree of interface with several agencies; this must be carried out in a manner that demonstrates the quality of company system thus promoting customer confidence.

- PCN Level 2 Radiography Interpretation
