We have a new requirement with a well-established International Oil & Gas Operator based in Aberdeen to recruit for a Project Delivery Manager on a contract basis. PAYE / Agency Worker contract position until end of March, eligible to be a long-term opportunity. Client offers many benefits including compressed working week and generous holiday allowance.

ROLE

  • The Project Delivery Manager plays a key role in enhancing project success and strategic decision-making within the Major Projects Department, with a particular focus on decommissioning projects. This includes leading the development and implementation of contracting strategies for key activities such as topside engineering down and clean, heavy lift vessel (HLV) preparation and removals, platform and subsea plug & abandonment (P&A), and subsea infrastructure removals.
  • Responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of various decommissioning projects based on business needs.
  • The position will also establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners to support successful project outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of the Decommissioning Management team you will be responsible for:

Contracting Strategy Development

  • Develop and execute an integrated contracting strategy for decommissioning activities, ensuring alignment with company objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Engage with the supply chain to assess market capabilities, drive innovation, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure competitive and transparent tendering processes, supported by robust contract management plans.

Project Delivery & Interface Management

  • Lead and manage key interfaces between internal teams (e.g., Asset operations, HSE, P&A) and external contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Coordinate activities across engineering, HLV, platform P&A, and subsea decommissioning workstreams to achieve project milestones and deliverables.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate interface risks between various decommissioning scopes and stakeholders.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Decommissioning Manager to provide strategic input into project planning and decision-making.
  • Support cross-functional teams by providing leadership in resolving interface challenges and addressing evolving project needs.
  • Build strong relationships with JV partners, contractors, and regulators to ensure alignment and compliance.
  • Performance Management
  • Monitor contractor performance, ensuring delivery meets or exceeds agreed safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Support project teams in adapting to changing circumstances while maintaining focus on cost, schedule, and risk management.
  • Ensure lessons learned from previous projects are incorporated into ongoing and future decommissioning activities.

Safety Leadership

  • Role-models compliance with HSE policy. Ensures that all activities are planned and conducted in compliance with HSE policy
  • Manages the team to produce results through effective supervision, coaching and allocation of work. Communicates effectively and consistently role models of Company values.   • Manages the team in order to deliver budgeted outputs and costs. Effectively manages resources within their control, minimises waste, and risk, and raises potential budgetary issues as soon as they are identified

REQUIREMENTS

  • Prior decommissioning experience is an essential requirement.
  • Extensive project management experience is key attribute for this role.
  • Proven leadership experience in decommissioning, construction, or project delivery, preferably in the offshore oil and gas sector.
  • Significant management experience, ideally from an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractor background.
  • Strong understanding of contracting strategies and supply chain dynamics within the decommissioning environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of UKCS decommissioning regulations and industry best practices.
  • Experience managing complex interfaces across multidisciplinary teams and contractors
