We are currently working with a Housing Association in Blaenau Gwent who are looking for an experienced Income Officer to join their team on a temporary basis, they offer hybrid working and a brilliant opportunity to offer income support as well as general housing support to their tenants.

Job Title: Income Officer
Location: Blaenau Gwent
Contract: 6 month temporary
Working Hours: 37 hours hybrid working available
Rate: 23hr

Responsibilities of an Income Officer:

  • Manage rent accounts and arrears, setting up affordable payment plans and ensuring timely rent collection.
  • Support tenants with housing benefits, including Universal Credit and Discretionary Housing Payments, ensuring correct entitlements.
  • Liaise with tenants and agencies to promote tenancy sustainment and prevent eviction through early intervention and support.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with legal, financial, and safeguarding policies.

What we'd love to see from you:

  • Previous experience being an Income Officer or a similar role within Housing, where you have deal with rent arrears and income based housing management responsibilities
  • Knowledge of housing benefits and rent recovery process
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to engage effectively with tenants, colleagues, and external agencies.
  • Experience using housing management systems and maintaining accurate financial and case records.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and policies, including safeguarding, GDPR, and pre-court protocols.
