Description
The Assistant Accountant's responsibilities will include:
- Daily Cashflow and all associated postings (and allocation of receipts and payments) for 3 bank accounts (multiple currencies)
- Post Purchase Ledger invoices and request budget-holder approval where necessary
- Produce monthly Payment runs and ad-hoc payments
- Process BACS payments to suppliers using our bank system
- Raising Intercompany Recharge invoices
- Debt collection including chasing, sending invoices, credit notes and statements
- Reconciling and maintaining vendor accounts
- Opening new approved Customer accounts including credit checking and verifying account application forms
- Process monthly payrolls including pensions, salary journals and HMRC Submissions
- Daily Sales report and back-up
- Intrastat report completed every month
- Administer employee expense claims (Cash and Credit Card)
- Running month end routines and opening new accounting period
- Bank reconciliations and currency revaluations
- Fixed assets (including depreciations and disposals)
- Accruals and prepayments
- Bad debt, inventory, obsolete stock, profit in stock (Provisions/calculations)
- Produce draft Trial balance including analysis of variances
- Assist in preparation of annual accounts and audit
- Summary of EU VAT & quarterly submission
Profile
A successful Assistant Accountant should have:
- Previous experience in an all round accounting position, ideally within a small company
- Working knowledge of MS Office Software (mainly Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV desirable but not essential
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good time keeping and time management
- Ability to work on their own as well as part of the team
- Ability to prioritise tasks
- Ability to work to deadlines as well as setting own targets
- Honest and reliable
- Self-motivated with willingness to learn
- Good organisational skills
- Proactive approach to day-to-day tasks
- Accuracy of work and attention to details
