My client in Abingdon, Oxford is currently in need of a Senior Façade Engineer/Designer due to ongoing expansions.

Job Summary:
Are you an experienced Senior Façade Designer looking for an exciting new challenge? My client is a leading architectural practice, renowned for their innovative approach and commitment to quality in the built environment. They are seeking a talented individual to join their Architecture Team, specialising in façade engineering and design.

As a Senior Façade Engineer/Designer, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of building facades, ensuring that they are aesthetically pleasing, energy-efficient, structurally sound, and perform at the highest standards. Your role will involve managing the design process, using your technical knowledge to provide innovative solutions, and overseeing the development of architectural and construction contracts.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled façade engineer/designer with a proven track record in façade design, structural engineering, and project management.

Specialist System/Technical Knowledge:

  • Unitised Facades, Curtain Walling, Cable Truss Facades, All Glass (Planar) Facades.
  • Door and Window Systems (Schuco, Kawneer, etc.), Twin Wall Facades (including closed cavity), Blast Resistant Facades, Fire Rated Facades.
  • Experience with Steel Systems and Associated Glazing Styles (e.g., Raico).
  • Expertise in façade systems such as Unitised, Twin Wall, Planar, Cable Truss, Stick Facades, Specialist Systems (Schuco, Technal, SAPA, Pilkington).
  • Knowledge of Acoustic and Thermal Enhancement, CFD, OTTV, and related sub-contract activities.

Experience Required:

  • Experience within the building/construction environment, both on and off-site.
  • Detailed understanding of the Building Façade Engineering & Architectural field.
  • Proven experience in a façade design/engineering role.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software.
  • In-depth understanding of façade systems, façade physics, and structural engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of structural analysis, thermal analysis, façade materials, performance, specification, testing, and manufacturing.
  • Competence in computer analysis of structures and design of structural elements (steel, stainless steel, aluminium, timber, glass).
  • Knowledge of British Standards/Eurocodes and experience with SCIA and Tekla Building Designer.
  • Experience delivering projects to a minimum of BIM Level 2 standard.
  • Established experience in client relationship management and business development.
  • Suitable technical qualifications (e.g. Architectural Engineering degree, HND/HNC in Civil/Structural Engineering, etc.).
  • Working towards or holding professional memberships (e.g. ICE, IStructE, MSFE, ACIOB).
  • Ability to mentor and delegate to junior team members and supervise CAD/REVIT technicians.
  • Commercial awareness and adaptability to various types of work and levels of responsibility.
