Bookkeeper – Accountancy Practice (Oxfordshire)

An established and fast-growing accountancy practice based near Abingdon, Oxfordshire, is seeking a confident and experienced Bookkeeper to join their friendly team. This firm specialises in supporting start-ups and SME businesses, offering high-quality, efficient accountancy services to a loyal client base comprising local companies and personal tax clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out bookkeeping duties for a portfolio of clients, including preparation and submission of VAT returns

  • Support the Payroll Manager with month-end payroll tasks

  • Handle incoming calls and maintain professional communication with clients

  • Assist with Companies House filings and company secretarial duties

  • Support with HMRC and client registrations

  • Provide assistance with credit control processes

Requirements:

  • A full UK driving licence

  • Minimum of 3 years’ bookkeeping experience, ideally gained within an accountancy practice

Key Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • A positive, team-oriented attitude with a proactive mindset

  • Highly organised and capable of managing time effectively to meet deadlines

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

  • Experience using Xero is preferred, though not essential

  • A flexible and adaptable approach, with a willingness to learn and solve problems
